The US is in serious discussions with a new and more reasonable regime in Iran.
Open Claimed by Government of the United States on 30 March 2026.
The statement
President Trump said the US was in serious discussions with a new and more reasonable regime, and that if a deal was not shortly reached and Hormuz was not open for business the US would obliterate Iran's electric generating plants, oil wells, Kharg Island and possibly all desalination plants. Legal scholars quoted by Al Jazeera called the threat collective punishment; the White House said it would act within the law.
