The statement
In a prime-time address on the evening of 1 April (US Eastern time), President Trump said the operation's core strategic objectives were nearing completion, that the US would hit Iran extremely hard over the next two to three weeks, and that if no deal was reached it could strike Iran's electric plants and possibly its oil industry. He told countries that rely on the Strait of Hormuz to take charge of it and claimed Iran had been close to a nuclear weapon, which CBS noted US intelligence had said last year Iran was not actively pursuing.
