Iran's 14-point reply to a US plan is made public; Trump says he cannot imagine it being acceptable

Tasnim reported on 2 May that Iran had sent a 14-point response to a nine-point US plan through Pakistan; Al Jazeera reported the text went to Pakistan late on 30 April. As described by Iranian media and Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, it seeks an end to the war within 30 days rather than a truce extension, guarantees against future attack, withdrawal of US forces from around Iran, release of frozen assets, sanctions relief, reparations, an end to fighting including in Lebanon, and a new mechanism for the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said on Truth Social that he found it hard to imagine the plan being acceptable because Iran had not yet paid a big enough price. A Pakistan-mediated ceasefire has held since 8 April and a US blockade of Iranian ports has run since 13 April.
