The US Treasury designated nine people for "obstructing the peace process in Lebanon and impeding the disarmament" of Hezbollah, including Hezbollah MP Nizammeddine Fadlallah, Iran's ambassador-designate Mohammad Reza Sheibani, two Amal security officials, an army branch chief and a General Security official. It offered up to $10 million for information on Hezbollah finances. Hezbollah called the sanctions a "badge of honour"; Lebanon's army said all its soldiers are loyal and rejected the move.
