A source told Reuters the US plans to redirect frozen Iranian assets to Gulf states to pay for repairs of damage caused by Iranian attacks, and media reported Treasury Secretary Bessent was considering it, Al Jazeera reported. An unnamed US official said the Treasury would use available tools to make Iranian assets available to Gulf allies. Iran's Mohsen Rezaei told CNN the same day that a deal depended on the release of about $24 billion in frozen assets. On 11 June Bessent said such damage would be paid for with Iranian frozen assets, estimated at about $100 billion.
