Lloyd's List reported that 26 vessel transits in two weeks followed IRGC pre-approved routes with AIS switched off, under a system in which operators submit vessel, cargo and crew details, receive a clearance code and are escorted near Larak Island, Al Jazeera reported. Lloyd's List said at least two vessels paid in yuan, and lawmaker Alaeddin Boroujerdi said some were charged $2m. IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said nearly 2,000 ships were waiting on both sides of the strait, and India's shipping ministry said it made no payments to Iran.
