Satellite images reviewed by AP showed an oil slick of about 95 square kilometres west of Kharg Island, Iran's main crude export terminal, in images taken on Wednesday 6 May; maritime intelligence firm Windward AI first spotted it in images from 5 May, AP reported. Greenpeace Germany warned of harm to protected marine areas if it drifted south. The cause was not established, and AP said the spill predated the latest US strikes; the Pentagon declined to comment.
