The International Maritime Organization said on 25 June that it had temporarily paused its evacuation of vessels from the Gulf after a ship that had passed through the Strait of Hormuz, and was not part of the evacuation framework, was attacked in the Gulf of Oman. Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said 'the evacuation plan will be paused until further clarity is obtained' on safety guarantees. The plan, which had begun moving ships through a temporary corridor arranged with Oman the day before, covers hundreds of vessels and more than 11,000 seafarers, gCaptain reported; Iran's Persian Gulf Strait Authority warned that passage outside its designated framework 'will not be covered by safe passage guarantees'.
