The International Energy Agency said its 32 members had unanimously agreed, at an extraordinary meeting on 10 March, to make 400 million barrels of oil available from emergency reserves, the largest release in its history and more than double the 182.7 million barrels released in 2022. The IEA said crude and product exports through the Strait of Hormuz had fallen below 10 percent of prewar levels. Germany and Japan announced their own releases the same day.
