Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced on 20 June that the Strait of Hormuz was closed, citing non-implementation of the first clause of the memorandum and Israel's strikes in southern Lebanon and refusal to withdraw, in a statement carried by Fars and reported by Times of Oman. It called the move a 'first response' and said 'subsequent steps will be planned and taken' if attacks continued. Reuters reported that the IRGC warned ships to stay away. Ships had begun moving through the strait after the memorandum was signed three days earlier.
