US and Iran exchange fire as three US destroyers transit Hormuz; US strikes Iranian sites
Reportedon one origin only: 1 distinct origin, 1 tied to no party.
CENTCOM said Iran attacked three US Navy destroyers transiting the Strait of Hormuz with missiles, drones and small boats, that no US ship was hit, and that it carried out self-defence strikes on Iranian launch sites; US officials told CBS News the strikes targeted the Bandar Abbas and Qeshm areas. Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya command said the US first targeted an Iranian tanker and another ship and struck civilian areas on Qeshm and at Bandar Khamir and Sirik, and that it hit US vessels east of the strait and south of Chabahar; Iran said 10 sailors were wounded and five were missing. Trump called the US strikes a love tap and said the ceasefire held. Al Jazeera said it was unclear who fired first.
