Iran's ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, said on 24 October that Iran remained open to talks under the Pakistan- and Qatar-brokered interim deal reached in June, and that it had conveyed via Pakistan an offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz if Washington lifted its naval blockade, which he said Trump rejected, Arab News Pakistan reported. Iranian officials later called reports of such an offer a "lie and fabrication", the Times of India reported. President Pezeshkian blamed the US for the deal unravelling but said both sides should return to it, Al Jazeera reported.
