CENTCOM spokesperson Captain Tim Hawkins said US forces carried out "self-defence strikes" in southern Iran on 25 May, hitting missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to lay mines, while "using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire". Iranian sources told Al Jazeera several IRGC personnel were killed, and Marine Insight reported four IRGC members killed; Iranian sources said the IRGC had targeted a vessel before the strikes. Iran's foreign ministry called the strikes a "gross violation" of the ceasefire in Hormozgan province. The strikes came as Iran's top negotiators arrived in Doha.
