Reportedon one origin only: 1 distinct origin, 1 tied to no party.
Drewry's World Container Index composite stood at $4,351 per 40ft container in the assessment for 8 October 2026. Drewry put Shanghai to Rotterdam at $3,337, Shanghai to Genoa at $3,696 and Shanghai to Los Angeles at $7,624 per 40ft. Drewry said the composite fell 2% on the week and that the faster-than-expected return to the Suez route was the biggest threat to carrier efforts to support rates, while uncertainty about Houthi activity remained. Against Drewry's 5 October 2023 assessment of $1,389.5, the composite was up 213% (our calculation from Drewry's figures). Shanghai to Los Angeles was more than double Shanghai to Rotterdam.
