Serhii Dobriak, head of Pokrovsk's military administration, urged residents, especially families with children and the elderly, to evacuate immediately, saying Russian forces were a little over 10 km from the city's outskirts. Pokrovsk is a road and rail hub for Ukrainian forces in Donetsk Oblast, and Russia's advance on it had sped up since the fall of Avdiivka in February.
