A US official told Axios that on 14 September a US drone fired two missiles and destroyed two boats used by the IRGC in an attempt to seize an American unmanned surface vessel. CENTCOM spokesman Capt. Tim Hawkins said Iranian small boats attempted to take possession of the vessel and were unsuccessful after CENTCOM forcefully responded. Iranian media said fishing boats were hit and fishermen were missing. The official also said Navy ships now escort tankers through the strait by day as well as night.
