Russia and Ukraine began exchanging wounded, sick and young prisoners under the Istanbul agreement on 9 June and carried out a second stage on 10 June, both sides said, the Moscow Times reported, with further stages through the month. Ukraine's Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War said Russia returned 1,200 bodies on 13 June that Russia said belonged to Ukrainian citizens, the Guardian reported, part of a series of transfers of 6,000 bodies agreed in Istanbul. Zelensky later said Russia had included at least 20 bodies of its own soldiers among the remains.
