A US official said US forces struck two Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz on 30 August after IRGC forces were seen preparing to launch rockets carrying sea mines into the strait, AP and Reuters reported via The Times of Israel. Semi-official Iranian outlets reported explosions near the island. The IRGC said, via state broadcaster IRIB, that the attack killed and wounded several Iranian fighters and civilians without giving a toll, and vowed to respond. The previous known US strikes on Iran were in late July.
