CENTCOM and Saudi Arabia's defence ministry said they struck Iran-backed groups in Iraq that they blamed for more than 30 IRGC-directed drone attacks on US forces and Saudi energy sites over three days, CBS News and Al Jazeera reported. The Popular Mobilisation Forces said at least 20 fighters were killed and 32 wounded in a preliminary toll, with its Baghdad headquarters and sites in Wasit, Nineveh, Basra, Kirkuk, Karbala and Diyala hit; a PMF official told AFP at least 10 died in Nineveh. IRGC-affiliated Mehr said four IRGC members were killed at a Diyala base, and IRNA later said the bodies of five IRGC members were returned to Iran. Iraq's National Security Council called the strikes a violation of sovereignty, and the PMF called them a 'dangerous escalation'.
