President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia launched a then-record 550 drones and missiles at Ukraine overnight on 3 to 4 July, with Kyiv the main target. Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko said at least two people were killed and the State Emergency Service reported 26 injured; officials listed damage to apartment buildings, a school, a medical facility and railway lines across several districts. Polish foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski said the consular section of Poland's embassy was damaged. The attack came hours after a call in which, the Kremlin said, Vladimir Putin told Donald Trump that Russia would continue to pursue its goals in Ukraine.
