Ukraine's air force said Russia launched 598 drones and 31 missiles overnight into 28 August. Kyiv authorities said at least 25 people were killed, including four children, and 63 injured; a five-storey apartment building in Darnytskyi district collapsed. The EU delegation, the British Council and the Kyiv bureau of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty were damaged, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said two missiles landed about 50 metres from the EU mission. EU envoy Katarina Mathernova called the attack Moscow's answer to peace efforts and US envoy Keith Kellogg called it egregious.
