The IDF said troops of its 36th Division gained control of the Ali Taher Ridge area above and below ground, cleared two tunnel routes, killed some operatives while others fled, and were preparing to demolish the site, which it described as Iranian-financed infrastructure built over two decades. Defence Minister Israel Katz said on 4 September the takeover cemented Israeli control over a security zone in south Lebanon. The Times of Israel noted the IDF disputed a Reuters report that IRGC members were at the site. Hezbollah did not confirm losing the ridge.
