Trump and Putin agree a 30-day halt to strikes on energy infrastructure; strikes continue overnight

Confirmedon an admission by the acting party plus an independent origin: 1 distinct origin, 1 tied to no party.

In a call with Trump on 18 March, Putin agreed to stop strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure for 30 days but did not accept the full 30-day ceasefire Ukraine had backed, and the Kremlin said he gave immediate orders to that effect, the Guardian reported. Hours later Russian drones hit targets in Ukraine including a hospital in Sumy and power infrastructure in Sloviansk, and Zelensky said Putin had "de facto rejected" a full ceasefire. Zelensky signed up to the partial halt after a call with Trump on 19 March.
