Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation said the Darkhovin nuclear power plant site in Khuzestan, under construction since 2022, was hit by 'a number of projectiles' at about 03:39 local time on 19 July and called it 'an aggressive and brutal act', Al Jazeera reported. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi called it a 'dangerous assault' and vowed a response. The IAEA said it was looking into the reports and that the facility was in early construction and held no nuclear material when inspectors last visited. CENTCOM said its overnight strikes hit coastal surveillance and air defence sites, maritime capabilities and missile and drone storage, without naming Darkhovin.
