Danish police said several large drones flew over Copenhagen airport for more than three hours on the evening of 22 September, closing it until early 23 September; Oslo airport also closed for several hours after sightings. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called it the most serious attack on Danish critical infrastructure so far and said she could not rule out Russian involvement; NATO said it was too early to say. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the accusations unfounded. Further sightings over Danish airports and military bases followed that week; In June 2026 Copenhagen police said they could neither prove nor rule out drone activity over the airport that night.
