US Central Command said its forces began striking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets at 12 p.m. ET on 1 September and later said the wave hit air defence sites, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine-laying capabilities and communications sites, after what it called attempted IRGC attacks on commercial shipping and US service members. US officials told Axios about 100 targets were hit, Iran International reported. President Trump told Fox News the strikes focused on Iranian efforts to rebuild radar destroyed earlier in the war. Iranian state TV reported strikes along the Hormuz coast, on Gulf islands and at Jiroft airport in Kerman province; Iran International posted video of a communications tower hit in Sirik. The wave followed US strikes on Larak Island on 30 August and Iranian fire on US bases in Jordan and the UAE on 31 August.
