Reportedon one origin only: 0 distinct origins, 0 tied to no party.

Russia's defence ministry said Ukrainian forces attacked across the border into Kursk Oblast at 08:00 Moscow time with up to 300 troops, 11 tanks and more than 20 armoured vehicles, and that it was sending reserves. Acting Kursk governor Alexei Smirnov said three civilians were killed that day and on 7 August declared a regional state of emergency. Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov told President Putin the advance had been halted, a claim the Kyiv Independent said could not be verified. Kyiv had not commented by 7 August. It was Ukraine's largest cross-border ground operation of the war.
