The UK Maritime Trade Operations centre reported late on 19 July that a vessel about 8 nautical miles (15 km) northwest of Kumzar, Oman, caught fire, said the cause was unverified and advised ships to transit with caution, Al Jazeera reported. The IRGC said via Tasnim that two oil tankers 'exploded' and were halted in the southern strait while trying to transit under what it called US coercion, and warned the passage is unsafe for fertiliser, oil or gas while US operations continue. UKMTO did not name an attacker. Greek manager Dynacom Tankers said its Malta-flagged tanker Kavomaleas was hit by two projectiles about 8 nautical miles northwest of Kumzar, causing an engine room fire, and was evacuated, with Omani authorities bringing the crew ashore, Reuters reported.
