CENTCOM said on 27 July it had redirected 17 commercial vessels and disabled and boarded two others each to enforce the blockade of Iranian ports, Al Jazeera reported. Fars reported the same day that six ships were stopped from transiting the strait after using an unauthorised route south of it, switched off their navigation systems and were returned to the Gulf, with one suffering an accident, The National reported. Iran wants ships to use a lane near its coast and has fired on ships using the southern lane near Oman.
