The US Treasury sanctioned 10 people it said run a bulk-cash courier network moving up to hundreds of millions of dollars to Hezbollah through Lebanon, Turkey, the UAE and Iran, and amended Hezbollah's designation to say it operates in service of Iran's government under the command of the IRGC Quds Force, AFP reported via The Times of Israel. A State Department official said the step shows Hezbollah is an Iranian proxy. Hezbollah said on 21 August the sanctions would not deter its fight against Israel.
