Ukraine's SBU security service said on 1 June that drones launched from inside Russia had struck military aircraft at four air bases, Belaya in Irkutsk region, Olenya in Murmansk region, Dyagilevo in Ryazan region and Ivanovo Severny, damaging 41 aircraft worth a combined $7bn, the Guardian reported. Russia's defence ministry confirmed that several aircraft caught fire in the Murmansk and Irkutsk regions, said there were no casualties, and said several participants had been detained. Satellite radar images supplied by Capella Space to Reuters showed what an analyst at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies identified as the remains of at least two destroyed Tu-22 bombers at Belaya, the Guardian reported; the full extent of the damage remained unclear.
