A French soldier serving with UNIFIL was killed by small-arms fire and three other peacekeepers were wounded, two seriously, near Ghandouriyeh in the Bint Jbeil area on 18 April, French Armed Forces Minister Catherine Vautrin said. UNIFIL said initial assessments pointed to non-state actors, allegedly Hezbollah, and opened an inquiry into a deliberate attack; Macron said evidence pointed to Hezbollah. Hezbollah denied any link, and Lebanon's president and army ordered investigations, Al Jazeera reported.
