Ukrainian forces retook the village of Pishchane, south-west of Pokrovsk, on 16 February, military officials said, and counterattacked around neighbouring Kotlyne, the Guardian reported. Russian units had seized a string of settlements in the area in December and January and threatened to cut off Pokrovsk. Zelensky told the Munich Security Conference the situation in the Pokrovsk direction had improved.
