Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant is cut from Ukraine's grid for the first time
Reportedon one origin only: 0 distinct origins, 0 tied to no party.
Ukraine's nuclear operator Energoatom said the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant was disconnected from the grid on 25 August for the first time in its history, after fires at ash pits of a neighbouring thermal power plant damaged its last connecting lines; it said three other lines had earlier been damaged in Russian attacks. The IAEA said Ukraine told it power had been restored through the nearby thermal plant. Energoatom blamed Russian forces, while Russian officials blamed Ukrainian shelling for the fires. The incident added urgency to the planned IAEA mission.
