US Central Command said that after Iran's failed attacks on two US ships it permanently disabled the tanker Downy off Kharg Island and the Stark 1 near Jask, and destroyed the unladen crude carrier Kylo in the Gulf of Oman after directing its crew to abandon ship. CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper said the US would destroy Iran's 'limited and exposed oil fleet' if necessary. Fars reported blasts near Kharg Island earlier in the day. No casualty figures were published.
