Iran said a long-range strike on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea on 25 July caused an explosion that killed one sailor and injured another, and its foreign ministry summoned Ukraine's charge d'affaires over what it called a 'hostile and criminal' act, Al Jazeera reported citing IRNA. Ukraine's SBU said drones hit the Russian missile boat Molnyia and two sanctioned cargo ships carrying military cargo between Iran and Russia, and President Zelenskyy cited 'very strong results' in the Caspian, RFE/RL reported. Araghchi called it a UN Charter violation 'done at Israel's behest', and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it should be seen as an attack on Iran. Zelenskyy has accused Russia of passing Iran satellite images of Gulf bases.
