A senior Iranian military official said navy vessels remained barred, NBC News reported. US crude closed down 11.45 percent at 83.85 dollars a barrel, NBC reported. Ghalibaf says Hormuz will not stay open if the US blockade continues: Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf wrote on X on the evening of 17 April that 'if the blockade continues, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open,' and that transit would follow a designated route with Iranian authorisation, NBC News reported.
