Fighting for Bakhmut intensifies as Wagner-led Russian forces make small gains south of the town
Reportedon one origin only: 1 distinct origin, 1 tied to no party.
By late November the battle for Bakhmut in Donetsk oblast had become the most intense on the front, with Russian assaults led largely by the Wagner Group. The Institute for the Study of War assessed on 28 November that Russian forces had made incremental gains south of the town, including the village of Ozarianivka, but were too degraded to encircle it quickly. Wagner financier Yevgeny Prigozhin had said in October his forces advanced only 100 to 200 metres a day.
