Oman's Environment Authority said oil from the sanctioned tanker Caroline Bezengi had reached beaches at Ras Madrakah, about 200 km north of the wreck, and warned that the southern coast of Masirah Island could be affected, Euronews reported. Al Jazeera reported the authority's estimate of up to 40 km of affected coastline. Satellite images showed a slick of more than 600 sq km driven by monsoon winds, according to Euronews. The tanker has been grounded off Qibliyah Island since an onboard explosion in June whose cause has not been disclosed.
