An ICRC-led convoy carried more than 1,000 civilians who had fled Mariupol on their own from Berdiansk to Zaporizhzhia, arriving on 6 April, the ICRC said. Its team had spent five days and four nights trying to reach Mariupol itself and came within 20 km but could not enter because of security conditions. Mariupol had been encircled since early March.
