Russian forces take Prohres on the Pokrovsk axis, raising a risk of encirclement for Ukrainian units

Reportedon one origin only: 1 distinct origin, 1 tied to no party.

The Ukrainian mapping project DeepState said Russian forces occupied the village of Prohres in Pokrovsk district on 20 July and warned that part of the Ukrainian grouping nearby could be encircled. Ukraine's Khortytsia group said Russian units near Prohres were under Ukrainian fire and that fighting continued, and the 31st Mechanised Brigade said it was responding to changes in the situation. DeepState said the Russian aims were to cut the Pokrovsk to Kostiantynivka road and push toward Novohrodivka. The advance was part of Russia's drive on Pokrovsk after the fall of Avdiivka in February.
