As Russian forces withdrew from the area north-west of Kyiv, AFP journalists in Bucha saw the bodies of at least 20 men in civilian clothes lying in a single street, and Ukraine's defence ministry said the whole Kyiv region had been retaken. UN High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet said her monitors had documented the unlawful killing of 50 civilians in Bucha during a visit on 9 April; OHCHR later documented 73 civilian killings in the town between 4 and 30 March. Russia's defence ministry said its units had left Bucha completely by 30 March and Russian officials called the images staged; Maxar imagery of 19 March and Planet imagery of 21 March, analysed by The New York Times and the Centre for Information Resilience, showed bodies on Yablunska Street while Russian forces held the town.
