Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter and Lebanese Ambassador Nada Hamadeh Moawad met at the US State Department on 14 April with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, the highest-level meeting between the two countries to date, the Times of Israel reported. US officials hoped it would lead to negotiations on a peace treaty. Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah called the government's decision to talk to Israel a wrong path.
