Late on 7 April, shortly before Trump's 8 pm ET deadline to strike Iran's power plants and bridges, a two-week US-Iran ceasefire was announced, AP reported. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the parties had agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon, Al Jazeera reported; the White House said it supported reopening the Strait of Hormuz as part of the deal. Netanyahu's office welcomed the suspension of strikes on Iran but said the truce did not include Lebanon, and Trump later said Lebanon was excluded because of Hezbollah. President Pezeshkian said the ceasefire was approved unanimously by top officials and the supreme leader.
