UKMTO said two IRGC gunboats fired on a tanker north-east of Oman on 18 April and that the vessel and crew were safe; maritime security firm Vanguard identified it as the India-flagged Sanmar Herald, whose captain said shots damaged the bridge windows, AFP reported. UKMTO also said a container ship in the area was hit by an unknown projectile that damaged some containers. Indian reports said a second Indian-flagged ship, Jag Arnav, also turned back, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri summoned Iran's ambassador that evening to convey 'deep concern'.
