Russia claims capture of Soledar after Wagner claim; Ukraine says fighting continues

Disputedon credible origins that conflict: 0 distinct origins, 0 tied to no party.

Russia's defence ministry said on 13 January that the 'liberation' of Soledar, a salt-mining town north of Bakhmut in Donetsk oblast, was completed the previous evening. Wagner group owner Yevgeny Prigozhin had claimed the town on 10 and 11 January, which the Kremlin did not confirm at the time. Serhiy Cherevatyi, a spokesman for Ukraine's eastern forces, told AFP severe fighting was still under way. The rival Russian claims exposed a rift between the defence ministry and Wagner.
