Trump announces a three-day ceasefire for 9 to 11 May and a 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner swap; both sides confirm

Confirmedon an admission by the acting party plus an independent origin: 1 distinct origin, 1 tied to no party.

President Trump said there would be a three-day ceasefire on 9, 10 and 11 May with a suspension of all kinetic activity and a swap of 1,000 prisoners by each side. Zelensky confirmed the deal, saying 'Red Square matters less to us than the lives of Ukrainian prisoners of war', and issued a decree placing the Victory Day parade off-limits to Ukrainian strikes, which Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called a 'silly joke'. A Russian two-day truce and a Ukrainian unilateral ceasefire earlier in the week had both unravelled amid mutual accusations. Hours earlier, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said US mediation had stagnated.
