Lufthansa Group said on 23 April it would cut 20,000 short-haul flights through October to save about 40,000 tonnes of jet fuel, AP and Reuters reported. Jet fuel rose from about 99 dollars a barrel at the end of February to as high as 209 dollars in early April, AP said, and EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen said the war was costing Europe about 500 million euros a day.
