Saudi Ministry of Defence spokesman Maj Gen Turki Al Malki said several drones aimed at oil facilities in the Eastern Province and at Riyadh were destroyed, that they came from Iraqi territory and that Iran-backed militias were responsible, The National reported on 27 July; no casualties or damage were reported. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq called the accusation 'fabrications', and Iraq's prime minister ordered an investigation. The Houthis separately claimed drone attacks on oil supply points in the Eastern Province, and Jordan said it shot down two drones. CENTCOM later counted more than 30 drone attacks on US forces and Saudi energy sites over three days.
