Russian offensive on Vuhledar stalls with heavy armour losses, monitors report

From late January Russian naval infantry and other units repeatedly attacked Vuhledar, a town in south-western Donetsk oblast. The DFRLab said on 18 February that about two weeks of attempts to seize the town had failed and that progress on the southern flank was minimal, and it geolocated footage of reinforcements; reports that most of the 155th Naval Infantry Brigade was killed or captured came from social media and Ukrainian officials and were not confirmed. The Moscow Times reported on 14 February that the elite marine unit had been nearly destroyed. DFRLab judged the town unlikely to change hands soon.
